Boone County Work Release serves clients who are moderate to high risk offenders convicted of any Level 2-Level 6 felonies and can currently house up to 19 male clients. While in the program, clients will remain incarcerated and only be released to go to their place of employment or other activities pre-approved by their case manager.

Work Release is currently housed in the Boone County Jail, with the goal of having a standalone facility when the construction of the Boone County Justice Center is completed. This will allow Work Release to serve a much larger population, including the addition of a female Work Release dorm.

Clients are monitored using Electronic Monitoring GPS equipment that provides 24/7 monitoring and tracking abilities. Work Release staff are responsible for reviewing client movements to ensure victim safety, public safety, and adherence to program rules. Clients receive differing intensities of field and case management contacts, dosage hours, and drug testing based upon their risk level and individual responsivity factors.

All moderate, high, and very high risk clients who are on the program for longer than 90 days will also have a case plan created to target their individual needs. Referrals to evidence-based programming are made by the case manager which includes treatment, peer support groups, employment interventions, and other community-based services. Services are also provided in the Boone County Jail for program participants.

A referral form must be submitted by the attorney of record unless Defendant is pro se. Referral forms are online at https://boonecounty.in.gov/offices/community-corrections/community-corrections-referral-form/. The pre-screen fee is $25.00. If placed on work release there is a $140.00 intake fee, $50.00 hygiene fee and it is $20.00 per day to be on the program. There are currently 19 beds available to work release and once those are filled if you are sentenced to work release you name will go on a waiting list.
