We had 5 inmates receive an HSE in 2022. We hold 1 class of ladies and 3 classes of gentlemen twice weekly; extra classes are added for test takers around exam time. In our HSE classes, our main emphasis is to prepare inmates to either take the HSE test or to complete coursework in order to earn their high school diploma. We also provide career testing. Many students refresh their academic skills so they will be ready for college/trade schools when they are released. We encourage peer tutoring in the block from those who have passed the test. It is working very well and the tutors take pride in doing it and giving back.

Inmates have been able to get a 3-month time cut for county time; a 6-month time cut is possible if they are going on to prison. There have been around 173 students come through class this year. Several have come through multiple times (there is an absence maximum so they have to reapply). Currently the attendance numbers for classes are 5 girls, 7 guys, 8 guys, and 4 guys(pc block). The max number of students per class is set by the jail at 8.
