Animal Control

The mission of the Animal Control Division (ACD) of the Boone County Sheriff’s Office is to protect the health and safety of the county residents, to protect animals and promote their humane treatment, and to work in partnership with animal facilities to ensure these objectives are met.

Communications

The Boone County Communications Center provides the vital link between citizens needing public safety services and those responders tasked with providing them. Citizens needing an emergency response may contact the Department 24 hours a day by calling 911. Non-emergencies may be handled by calling 765-482-1412, option 8.

Civil Process

The Civil Division Officer acts as a court liaison, or officer of the court. The Civil Division is to perform duties for the court such as the service of civil process paperwork. This can include, but is not limited to, summons, subpoenas, restraining orders, notices, sheriff sales, evictions, and order to appear.

Corrections

The Corrections Division is responsible for the Boone County Jail. Located at 1905 Indianapolis Ave., Lebanon, the Boone County Jail was built in 1992 with bed space for 110 inmates.

Courthouse Security

The Boone County Courthouse Division is responsible for the safety of elected officials, employees, and visitors to the courthouse and three other county buildings located in downtown Lebanon. Courthouse deputies investigate complaints, maintain order, screen visitors, and provide police services to the public as needed.

Emergency Management Agency

The overall mission of the Boone County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is to ensure the safety of the people and property of Boone County. We strive to accomplish this goal by helping residents be prepared, identify emergencies, make a plan, build a kit, and stay informed.

Enforcement

Deputies for the Boone County Sheriff’s office encounter a variety of calls from stray animals to homicides. Not only do Deputies answer calls for service and cover motor vehicle accidents, they also patrol the schools, provide funeral escorts and various other community services. Although these calls range in severity, all are treated with the same dedication and professionalism the citizens of Boone County deserve.

Investigations

The Investigative Division is responsible for general and follow-up investigations. The crimes investigated by this division include homicide, arson, serious assaults, sexual assaults, robberies, burglaries, larceny/theft/fraud, drug distribution, and others. This unit also comprises our Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) unit and Crime Analyst.

Reserves

The Boone County Sheriff’s office Reserve Division shall enforce the laws of the State of Indiana, safeguard life and property, prevent and detect crime, preserve the peace, protect the rights of all citizens and strive to enhance the quality of life in our community. We will uphold the public trust by being honest and maintaining the highest standards of ethical and moral character. We will treat every citizen and visitor with fairness, integrity, respect, and compassion, without discrimination of any kind.

School Resource Officers

A School Resource Officer (SRO) is a sworn, full-time, law enforcement officer who works in a school environment. SROs are trained to provide a safe environment for both teachers and students. SROs work with students to help educate and mentor them so they can learn to make good choices during any situation. SROs build positive relationships with children and teenagers, and by doing so help make the school a safer more enjoyable place for others.
