All firearm license applications are completed through the Indiana State Police website now:
AS OF OCTOBER 1, 2014, PAPER APPLICATIONS AND FINGERPRINTS CARDS WILL NO LONGER BE DONE FOR FIREARM LICENSE !!
How to apply for a handgun license:
As of October 1, 2014, anyone wanting to apply for a firearm license MUST go to the Indiana State Police website at in.gov/isp, and apply online. Applicants will also be required to pay their State fees online and schedule an appointment to have their fingerprints scanned at one of the Central Indiana MorphoTrust sites, which will be made available during the online application process.
After you have successfully completed the above process, you will still need to go to your local law enforcement agency in your jurisdiction in order have a criminal history check ran and to pay your local fees. For example, if you live in the city limits of Lebanon, you will need to go to the Lebanon Police Department, etc. (Your driver’s license or photo ID must be valid and the address must be the same as your physical address).
Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am – 4 pm, however, on Tuesdays and Fridays we close for lunch between 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm. Our office also follows the Boone County Holiday schedule.
Local License Fees:
Lifetime License with a current permit: $40.00 cash (CORRECT change only) or a personal check;
Lifetime License without a current permit: $50.00 cash (CORRECT change only) or a personal check;
Four Year License: $10.00 cash (CORRECT change only) or a personal check
*DEBIT or CREDIT CARDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FOR LOCAL FEE PAYMENTS*
The new license will be hard plastic, like a credit card - no longer paper. Current license holders will not be required to obtain a new card until theirs expires.
With this new application process, once you login and have an account, you will be able to check the status of your license , and also be able to order a duplicate lincense or change your address on your current license.
